Field preparation & cleanup:

Home teams prep the field:
  • Field prep should take about 60 minutes.
  • Rake in any low areas on the infield.
  • The field must be dragged with the cocoa mats located in the grandstand garage.
  • The small cocoa mat should be pulled by hand on the field walk up, first/third base paths, home plate and mound.
  • The large cocoa mat should be towed behind the manual shift tractor located in the blue garage.
  • DO NOT use the metal drag on the field.
  • DO NOT drag the large cocoa mat on the base paths or grass
  • To keep dust down, water the infield – if needed.
  • Remove the base plugs and store them on the green field cart.
  • Install the bases and chalk the foul lines.

Visiting teams are responsible for post game cleanup:

  • BOTH TEAMS police the dugouts for garbage.
  • Empty all garbage cans.
  • Remove the bases and install the receiver plugs.
  • Rake in and tamp both bullpens.
  • Rake in and tamp home plate and the catcher’s box.
  • Rake in the low areas surrounding the bases.
  • Rake in and tamp the mound.
  • Rake the base paths and walk ups.
  • When raking the field do not rake the field mix into the grass.
  • Turn off the scoreboard – if used.
  • Power down the PA, close the windows and lock the door in the press box – if used.
  • Make sure to turn the tractor(s) ignition switch to the off position. There is a safety feature that kills the motor if you remove weight from the seat. If the tractor is stopped by standing up and the ignition switch is left on the battery will discharge.
  • Power off field lights no later than 10:30 p.m – Last year the lights were left on overnight resulting in a $200 electric bill.
